To enhance the understanding of the (lack of) entrepreneurial spirit among the youth Gallup Europe is preparing the launch of the Young Entrepreneurs' Survey

Entrepreneurs are the backbone of EU and US economies and the basis for innovation economic growth and welfare creation. However according to the Flash Eurobarometer on Entrepreneurship conducted in 2004 almost 60% of EU15 citizens have never considered setting up a business. Unlike its US counterpart EU education system does not produce enough entrepreneurs and SMEs still widely suffer from too many obstacles. Furthermore although they represent the future there is a clear lack of reliable data on young entrepreneurs' related issues. Therefore understanding the state of play for young entrepreneurs in the EU and the US and learning from the US and Member States models' best practices are vital for the EU hence the need for reliable and trusted data. No progress can be achieved without understanding the young entrepreneurs' concerns and motives factors of development regarding the entrepreneurial mindsets at individual and collective levels likewise communicating issues based on comparable data from Member States and the US.
