Georgians value democracy but don't see it

Gallup reveals that while a majority of Georgians value democracy few are satisfied with how it is working in the country. This is reported as a state of emergency in Georgia seeks to stop demonstrations by opposition protesters there. (November 2007)

With Russia's parliamentary elections approaching a Gallup Poll conducted this year finds many Russians dissatisfied with their national government. (October 2007)

Support for peace shifts among Israelis Palestinians

With the United States preparing to host a peace summit between Israeli and Palestinian leaders Gallup finds that attitudes toward peace have shifted on both sides since early 2006. Palestinians are now more likely to "strongly support" the peace process while Israelis are more likely (twice as much as in 2006) to favour military solutions. (October 2007)

Venezuelans prefer socialism over capitalism ...those that care at least

As Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez pushes socialist-style reforms Gallup polling in the country reveals more support among his citizens for socialism than capitalism. Many people however don't offer an opinion one way or the other. (October 2007)
