Americans' views about the war in Iraq have changed little in recent months. Only one-third believe the US troop surge is making the situation better and most continue to say it was a mistake to send troops. (November 2007)
Americans want a restrained Iran strategy
Americans widely agree that the initial US approach to dealing with Iran's nuclear program should be a restrained one -- one that relies on diplomacy and economic tools rather than military force. Even if those methods fail Gallup polling suggests fewer than half of Americans would favour taking military action. (November 2007)
