ALVAZZI DEL FRATE, Anna


Curriculum

Anna was born in Turin in 1955. She holds a degree in Psychology, a post-graduate diploma in Sociology and Research Methodology and a Doctorate in Criminology (University of Bologna, Italy). She is presently a Research Officer at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), where she has been working since 1990. In this capacity, she co-ordinated the second (1992), third (1996) and fourth (ongoing) "sweeps" of the International Crime Victim Survey (ICVS) in developing countries and Eastern-Central Europe. Other major areas of research include crime prevention, crime statistics, corruption, transnational organized crime and illegal markets, comparative criminal justice systems, environmental crime, and gender-related issues.

Measuring the Emotional Economy in Europe

Anna Alvazzi del Frate introduced some of the global and European findings of the International Crime Victimisation Survey she has been associated with at UNICRI for the past few years. She summarized the major trends of crime in Europe, and introduced the first results of some of the petty victimless crimes, such as 'street corruption'.
