The support for Slovakia's accession
to the EU and the NATO has increased
BRATISLAVA: The support for Slovakia's
accession to the European Union and the NATO has increased
over the recent month. Currently, as much as 77% of
our citizens support our accession to that formation
- with 40,7% of the respondents definitely taking part
in the referendum and 28,4% rather taking part in it.
Since March, there increased also the number of citizens
supporting Slovakia's integration to the EU, by more
than 6% and (on the other hand), the number of those
rather supporting than not supporting our EU accession
dropped by 4%. The number of those rather not supporting
than supporting our integration - has dropped by 0,5%.
Definitely and unambiguously against Slovakia's EU accession
are 6,3% of the respondents - meaning a drop by 2,5%
since March. This follows from the public-opinion research
that has been conducted on a sample of 1 137 respondents
on April 25-29, 2003 by the Institute for Cultural and
Public Opinion Research of the National Culture Centre
(NOC)
